HY Bathroom Cabinet

11 x 58mm Solid European Oak section. Brass pins and hinges. Painted finish.

London 2012

We were commissioned by the Client of an extraordinary apartment by 6a Architects to design a free standing bathroom cabinet for her new home. We chose to follow the palette already established for the interior and made a cabinet from thin sections of timber in keeping with the scale of the brickwork and corrugated steel soffit.

Painted externally to match the walls and ceiling, the cabinet stands quietly between the large stone bath and the entrance to a shower room. Upon opening however, a rich oiled oak interior is revealed, and with shelves and doors all pinned together with fine brass nails. The entire cabinet is made from an unusually fine 11mm x 58mm section, which extends downwards from the side walls of the cabinet as 3 spindly legs giving it an intriguing lightness.
